I\u2019m always amazed at how misunderstood this term is&#8230;, even though the definition of each is easy to understand:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Innovate<\/strong> | verb |<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0[\u00a0no\u00a0obj.\u00a0] make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new methods, ideas, or products:\u00a0<em>the company&#8217;s failure to diversify and innovate competitively<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0[\u00a0with\u00a0obj.\u00a0]\u00a0<em>introduce (something new, esp. a product):\u00a0innovating new products, developing existing ones<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Innovation<\/strong> | noun | the action or process of innovating.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0a new method, idea, product, etc.: <em>technological innovations designed to save energy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invent<\/strong> |\u00a0verb | [\u00a0with\u00a0obj. | create\u00a0or design (something\u00a0that\u00a0has\u00a0not existed before);\u00a0be\u00a0the\u00a0originator of:<em>\u00a0he invented an improved form of the steam engine<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invention<\/strong> | noun |\u00a0the\u00a0action\u00a0of inventing\u00a0something,\u00a0typically a process or\u00a0device:\u00a0<em>the\u00a0invention of printing in the 15th\u00a0century<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>These words get interchanged a lot, and incorrectly too. In summary,\u00a0\u201cInnovation\u00a0differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Innovation is not invention.
