(8) promote organizational learning, and (9) help create change?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li5\"><b><\/b><span class=\"s2\"><b>How COMMITTED are you to staff involvement?<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0Do you (10) build teams, (11) empower all of your employees, and (12) develop their capabilities in line with your mission and values?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>THE BALANCING ACT<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">All 12 of these traits are important. Overemphasizing (or ignoring) any one yields a lopsided leader and, eventually, affects the organization\u2019s success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Emphasizing employee empowerment and development without tying the involvement to your strategic direction &#8230;, is a poor investment of your organization\u2019s resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Focusing on the development of core values without integrating them into the fabric of your organization\u2019s practices &#8230;, is an exercise in futility. (Enron\u2019s core values were Respect, Integrity, Communication, and Excellence.
